Everyone Has a Story: Children Affected by Parental Substance Use

This is a 2-day course running on 27th & 28th February 2023 via Microsoft Teams.  You must be able to attend on both days.

 

Aim

This course will support practitioners in adult and children’s services to respond to children affected by parental substance use.

 

Learning Outcomes 

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the impact of parental substance use on children.
  • Describe the child’s change cycle in parental use and recovery.
  • Practice the assessment of risk for children affected by parental substance use.
  • Identify ways to actively engage and hear young people’s stories.

 

Course Length and Format

This course consists of 7 hours learning using the following format:

Part 1: SDF Drug Awareness: An Introductory Course e-learning module (1hr).  

Please note. Completion of the e-learning module (part 1) is a requirement for attending the trainer facilitated online learning (part 2).

An invitation to participate in part 2 of the training will be emailed to participants on the morning of training once completion of part 1 has been verified.

Part 2: Trainer facilitated online learning over two half days.

Certification of course completion is awarded to participants who complete parts 1 and 2 of the course and submit the post-course evaluation form.
