Chemsex amongst Gay and Bisexual Men who have Sex with Men (GBMSM) in Scotland
This course is co-facilitated by the Scottish Drugs Forum (SDF) and Terrence Higgins Trust (THT).
This session is delivered in person in Glasgow City Centre.
AIM:
To increase workers knowledge, confidence, and skills in working with GBMSM around issues related to Chemsex.
This training covers harm reduction practices and safer drug-taking, as well as brief intervention and behaviour change approaches to working with GBMSM and Chemsex.
This course is relevant to anyone who works with GBMSM - particularly in relation to sexual health, substance use and mental health.
Learning Outcomes
- Describe the context of chemsex in Scotland including the drugs commonly used and the reasons why GBMSM may practice chemsex
- Reflect on how individual attitudes and beliefs can impact on GBMSM and the services they receive.
- Explore ways of engaging clients in discussing chemsex, feel confident talking about chemsex with clients
- Understand the risks relating to chemsex and identify key strategies to reduce harm in those who participate in chemsex
- Feel confident to support, refer, and signpost in relation to chemsex as appropriate.
